Gold futures ended lower on Wednesday as concerns over a potential US government shutdown eased and the dollar strengthened against a basket of major currencies. Gold futures for December delivery declined $5.50, or 0.4 percent, to settle at $1,339 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. While, spot gold was down 0.4 percent at $1,333.44 an ounce.
