Gold Steady Near Highest In Over Two Weeks On Weaker Dollar -Today Commodity Market Tips News

Gold prices held steady on Wednesday after hitting their highest in over two weeks in the previous session, buoyed as the dollar hovered near ten-month lows.

Fundamentals

* Spot gold was up about 0.1 percent at $1,242.86 per ounce at 0047 GMT. In the previous session, it hit its highest since June 30 at $1,244.56.

* U.S. gold futures for August delivery were nearly unchanged at $1,242.30 per ounce.

* Holdings at the SPDR Gold Trust, the world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, fell 0.68 percent to 821.45 tonnes on Tuesday from 827.07 tonnes on Monday.

* Russia said on Tuesday that it reserved the right to retaliate against the United States after a meeting in Washington ended without an agreement to return Russian diplomatic property the U.S. had seized.
