Commodity News | Odisha to procure Oil Seed and Pulses at increased MSP
Since Pulses and Oilseed were selling at a very low price during production in Odisha, the government has now decided to procure Oilseeds and Pulses with increased minimum support price (MSP).
The primary agricultural cooperatives will buy Oil Seeds and Pulses from farmers at newly increased MSP.
Administrative preparedness is in full swing to procure Oil Seeds and Pulses from cultivators for the first time in a Kharif crop season. The procurement of Oil Seeds and Pulses will commence from the first week of January.
A monitoring committee has set a target of 17,276 metric tonnes of procurement of Oil Seeds and Pulses.
The committee has increased MSP for Green Gram from Rs 5,575 per quintal to Rs 6,975, from Rs 5,400 to Rs 5,600 in case of Black Gram, from Rs 5,450 to Rs 5,675 (pigeon peas) and Rs 4,450 to Rs 4,890 (peanuts).
In the last rabi season, Odisha had procured 9,661 metric tonnes of oil seeds and pulses.
