The uptrend in chana continued today with chana (kanta) at ₹3,800-3,850, while chana (desi) ruled at ₹3,750. Compared to last week, chana is up ₹100. The rise in chana prices has been attributed to weak arrival of new crop and decline in selling pressure with farmers preferring to go slow while releasing their carryover stock, said Prakash Vora, a trader. Chana dal (average) was at ₹5,000-5,100, chana dal (medium) at ₹5,150-5,200, while chana dal (bold) ruled at ₹5,300-5,400 a quintal respectively. Amid the steady rise in the arrival of new crop, downtrend also continued in dollar chana with its prices in Indore mandis today being quoted at ₹7,000-9,200 a quintal.
