A volume of 13.91 lakh kg has been cataloged for Sale No: 50 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association scheduled for Thursday and Friday. This is the penultimate sale for 2017 as the auctions for the year will end with the next sale. This is as much as 3.37 lakh kg less than the offer of last week. Of this, 8.37 lakh kg belongs to leaf grades and 5.56 lakh kg, dust grades. As much as 12.42 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only 1.49 lakh kg, orthodox variety. The proportion of orthodox teas continues to be low in both leaf and dust grades. In the leaf counter, only 79,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 7.56 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dust, only 70,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 4.86 lakh kg, CTC.
