NCDEX tips, Higher arrival drags turmeric

The prices of both varieties of turmeric decreased at Erode markets on Thursday. Because of the stable price of the turmeric, the farmers have brought increased quantity on Thursday. said RKV Ravishankar, a trader. 7,000 bags arrived for sale; the buyers have purchased for their requirements by quoting the decreased price. The sale also decreased to 60 percent, he said.


Of the arrival of 4,154 bags of medium and poor quality the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales yard only 25 percent were purchased by the buyers.

Similarly, in the Regulated Market also the sale was decreased to 60 percent, this is ten to fifteen percent lesser than previous day market sale. The price of the finger variety was decreased by ₹75 to ₹100 a quintal in the four markets and the root variety was decreased by ₹100 a quintal in all the markets.

At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales yard, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,385 to ₹8,569 a quintal, root variety was sold at ₹5,322to ₹7,939 a quintal. Of the arrival of 4,154 bags, 1,877 bags were sold.
