Rise in the offer for Coonoor tea auctions

Of the 18.66 lakh kg, 17.40 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only 1.26 lakh kg, orthodox variety. The proportion of orthodox teas continues to be low in both leaf and dust grades. In the leaf counter, only 81,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 10.86 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dust, only 45,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 6.54 lakh kg, CTC. In all, 11.67 lakh kg belongs to Leaf grades and 6.99 lakh kg, dust grades.
Homedale Red Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the entire CTC auctions last week when Tea Services India Pvt Ltd bought it for ₹234 a kg. In the CTC leaf tea auctions, Homedale Estate Broken Pekoe tea, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹213.
Quotations with the brokers indicated ₹88-90 a kg for plain leaf grades and ₹115-168 for the best grades. For plain dust grades, they ranged ₹90-94 and for the best grades, ₹124-165.
