According to the Federal Customs Service of Russia, in 2016 the country increased wheat and meslin exports by 19.3% from the previous year, to 25.327 MMT.

 

The lion's share of this volume - 23.943 MMT, or 94.5% — was shipped to non CIS states. Shipments to non-CIS destinations were up 21.5% from 2015. 1.384 MMT of wheat was supplied to CIS countries, down 9% year-on-year.

 

In monetary terms, total wheat exports were up 6.8% year-on-year at USD 4.216 Bl. Wheat deliveries to non-CIS countries grew by 8.8% to USD 3.98 Bl., while those to CIS countries, on the contrary, dropped by 18.9% to USD 236.3 Ml.

Simultaneously, wheat imports by Russia increased 43.7% in January-December, to 579.9 KMT valued at USD 89 Ml. Barley imports jumped 3.3 times to 158.4 KMT (USD 20.3 Ml), while corn imports sank by 6.1% to 41.1 KMT.
